LP#9 Ihip ng Hangin

Thursday, May 29, 2008

This photo was 2 weeks ago when my grandaughter Nadine was among the participants in her school's Mayflower festivities. The weather proved to be stormy that time but luckily there was no rainfall but a refreshing windy atmosphere which my daughter Queenie enjoyed.

Prove me wrong!:< College Scholarship :)

It was such a long day for me. I had to wake up early for a hearing set at 10:00 a.m. at the Manila Barangay Bureau. Oh yes! Frantically true to what other Chairmen stated. They said you are lucky enough if you will not encounter a case or cases filed against you in the duration of your term. True enough a case of “Grave Abuse of Authority and Ignorance of the Law” was filed against me by a constituent for issuing a certificate to file action. I will not elaborate this case since this is a delicate matter and this entry might be used against me later. Last week I was a bit worried when I had my lawyer execute for me a counter-affidavit and submitted it on the date I was required to. But on the contrary I was ready to vacate my post in case the complainant proves me wrong. I slept quite late last night rehearsing in mind what to say to defend myself. On the hearing and deliberation proper, I can’t help being mad while expressing myself and stressing out my points. You see in the nth years of my life I haven’t been in court much less for any case. I’m not a political figure. I have clean and honest desire to serve and make the place I live in stand out in every aspect and be reformed for the common good of all concerned that’s why I aspired to get this position which I luckily got. If some people will come drag me and make me an escape goat to delay a case filed against him which can no longer be settled in the barangay level but in a higher court, go to hell!

To cut this short, the odds were on my side. Case closed! *winks*

After lunch, I went to the Office of the Vice Mayor to get his recommendation for a scholarship grant of 50% off from the total tuition fees of one of my poor constituent who would like to go to College but have no means. She’s the eldest of 8 children, her father a mere jeepney driver and mom a plain housewife. The total cost of the tuition fee for one semester is Php 13,000 plus but with the Vice Mayor’s grant; the amount was reduced to Php 8,750. which I promised to shoulder from my own pocket. What I offered earlier was just a Computer course at Datamex, one of the accredited schools giving a discounted rate of 50% through the Vice Mayor’s ISKOlarship program upon the Brgy. Chairman’s recommendation. The tuition fee amounts to just Php 4,000. but I thought of letting her take Tourism instead which I knew she really wished to take (next to Masscom which was not offered then). How I wish I have extra money to support more indigents get a College Education.

Bank online

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Most of us for sure maintain a savings or current account with our favored banks. But are you satisfied with the services that your bank is currently offering? Do they give great rates for your money? Honestly I seldom go and transact business with them because I hate waiting in queue. I’m thinking of opening an online savings with Wamu. They offer great rates and savings accounts come with free online banking thus saving not only your money but your time as well. Isn’t this a great offer?

Brgy 885 Santacruzan 2008

Monday, May 26, 2008

Gonna go lie low (?) after this grand event of our Barangay. The preparations alone aside from the financial woes (a lot of personal expenses by the family) accompanying it made me drained for two weeks. I felt aging by I0 years helping the SK Chairman and council on this project. Well except for the poor lighting and an incomplete line of Sagala participants the event turned out grand. Anyways, this is just the start of my term and I promise together with my Council, we will do better next year and make extra effort organizing to prevent the flaws we had encountered. Thanks to the support of the whole Council in this endeavor.

BTW, Riding atop a tiburine (a horse drawn carriage)is Reyna Emperatriz Camille, daughter of hubby’s brother Roland, Reyna Delas Flores is my youngest Queenie, Princess Emperatriz is grand kid Nadine (Kezia), Princess Elena my other grandkid Keren with Rey’s nephew Ron Miguel as escort and angel Michelle is the daughter of our long time staff Ana. Pinakyaw na diba? Here are only a sneak photos of the Santacuzan courtesy of our nephew Ryan.

My granddaughter Nadine, an incoming 6th grader at Sta. Ana Branch was among the participants and was named Ms. Faith. The weather then was stormy due to typhoon Cosme and we were just awaiting info of cancellation earlier that day but luckily pushed through because there was no expected downpour that happened.

She's Gonnabe a Star!

Friday, May 16, 2008

There is truth to the saying that no two individuals have the same personality. My daughters Rhea Marie and Reyna Bianca who we fondly call Queenie definitely exhibit contrasting traits and behavior. My eldest Rhea excels in academics and sports while Queenie loves theatre arts. She has special talents in acting, singing, dancing and dreams to become a celebrity someday like Lindsay Lohan and Beyonce. She always tell me this line “Mom, I’m Gonnabe a star”, which I do not mind and take seriously at all but advise her to make good in school.

One time while talking with some friends about our kids, I mentioned Queenie’s special likings. The told me to enroll her in acting workshops, let her join auditions for celebrity searches and seek talent agencies to help her develop her talent and confidence. Then I realized that parents should support their kids’ interests and guide them to succeed in their special chosen field.

Now, with my support I can say with high hopes that Queenie’s Gonnabe be a star!

A VIP overnight treat at Fontana

Thursday, May 15, 2008

The 19 Chairmen (out of 33) of Punta-Sta. An under an association called KAPITAN with your's truly as Secretary were so delighted to give in to the invitation of San Nicolas, Pamapanga's former Mayor Arceo and owner of St. Mark's Memorial Services at Fontana Leisure Park, Clark, Pampanga.
We were billeted in an exclusive 3 bedroom Villa with food and drinks overflowing including 3 transpo services all courtesy of the generous Mayor although hubby thought it would be more convenient for me if I bring his car and driver and ask the other 2 lady Chairmen to ride along with me.
We had fun and enjoyed the overnight bonding respite which gave us a break from the stress and problems of our respective barangays. The Village exclusive for members complete with all the amenities like swimming pool, golf course, casino, etc. were truly awesome. Here are pictures to share.

Town Fiesta Activities

Happy Fiesta!
Oh well it's today! The Kapitana had been very busy since the start of the week-end from the parlor games, solicitations from *Politicos*, beautification and (aside from personal and home needs) preparing stuffs for the Brgy's bet Ms. Norbie for the Bb. Sta. Ana Search. The Pageant was held last night. Though we didn't make it to the finals, there were no sour graping heard. What was important is the fact that our Brgy. was well represented and that we showed our support for her. Here are some photos taken last night.

Litratong Pinoy - Mahal na Ina

Friday, May 9, 2008

Our Lady of the Abandoned, the Patron Saint of Sta. Ana, Manila whose Town Fiesta is celebrated every 12 of May.

Ngunit may kasabihang “huli man daw at magaling, huli parin!”

It seemed like a bayanihan affair despite the heavy downpour of rain in the early afternoon, the task resumed in the late evening till about 12 midnight. Everyone was involved - the tanods, the council, the youth of the SK Council and some residents alike in decorating the place and putting up banderitas for the May 12 town fiesta.

Correct your vision through Lasik

I wonder why and where on earth my daughters inherited their poor vision. Both of them have started wearing glasses since they were about 6 years old while Rey and I except for reading glasses still have no problems with our eyesight. My girls are considering undergoing Lasik surgery which is one of the most popular ways to correct visions using a laser to change the curvature of the cornea. We have agreed and gave a yes to the procedure very soon.

Week-end Snapshots

The week-end was soooooo...... busy for the Kapitana supervising beautification projects for my Brgy. for the soon Town Fiesta Celebration. Remember my initial step I posted in my last week's entry HERE? The improvement has gone a long way and the Congressman has granted my further request for another mural painting. Another thing is just I added a corner grotto of which expenses where solicited from some able residents. I thought of the grotto because this spot used to be a garbage dumping site way back when I was not still the Chairman.

This was the former view of the left side wall.

Lovely silk flowers!

Saturday, May 3, 2008

In the history of artificial plants silk flowers were not well received in the early years but now they are more popular because they are more realistic looking than ever. Blame it on the manufacturing process and technology; they now replicate the real plant, tree or flower right down to the minutest details. You will even be surprised when you look closely, they are artificial and you may not even distinguish which is real when mixed in with the real plants.
