He needs to lose weight

He’s definitely on a strict diet as per doctor’s advice or if not he might undergo hemodialysis sooner than expected. My husband has long been a diabetic for almost seventeen years and now having complications. It’s is kidneys that is getting into mcu trouble. His creatine is slowly going up in values and now we’re now resorting into all kinds of diet products that will help trim down his weight and get the necessary and healthful food intakes. I hope and pray that God will help prolong the need for dialysis or a kidney transplant.

I'm hooked!

I’m done getting a mansion in Farmtown, I actually got two! If you’re on Facebook, you know what I’m talking about. With some disadvantages that came along ffrom the time I began playing, I promised myself not to start another time consuming hobby such as this again.

What’s the other addiction? It’s the teleserye “Dahil May Isang Ikaw”. I make it a point to be home by 9p.m. to watch this. Dahil May Isang Ikaw is an original Filipino drama series on Abs-Cbn Channel 2's Primetime Bida. It stars Gabby Concepcion, Lorna Tolentino, Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales.

Happy Kids

Funds were out for the procurement and distribution of some school supplies for 50 (plus) pre-school and grade school students of our Barangay. I saw joyous with gleaming eyed kids lined up while I distributed an envelope containing pads, pens/pencils, crayons and a sharpener one Sunday afternoon. How I wish there will be more funds coming up for our high schoolers and/or collegiate students as well.

Calling all generous citizens out there........ we are accepting donations for this project.

From North to South

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

We were invited to spend the long week-end in Subic by my friend Edna and family to celebrate the birthday of her husband Steve. We were reluctant since it was also my brother-in-law’s birthday the following day but Edna’s son-in-law was so insistent to have us join them so we did. The celebrant said spending a few days in Subic is just like hittting two birds in one stone because aside from a family day (s) out, he also will have a chance to join some vehicle auctions and buy some truck accessories for their delivery vans as well.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Mega’s vacation house who actually is an aunt of Edna’s son-in-law. We really wanted to stay to go on a beach adventure and of course shop for duty-free items but we still have to attend to another family gathering in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. We left at 2:00 p.m. for a North to South long trip.

700 village execs’ China trip draws flak
By Tina Santos

MANILA, Philippines -- Some 700 village chairmen in Manila recently went on an “educational trip” to China using barangay funds.
There are a total of 897 villages in the city.
According to Joel Par, director of Liga ng mga Barangay and chairman of Barangay 859 Zone 93 in Pandacan, the barangay officials went in batches to Shenzhen, China, last month.
“We had an invitation from the Chinese government, so we grabbed the opportunity to see for ourselves how different is Manila -- considered a premier city -- from the dynamic economies of other cities in Asia,” explained Par.
He admitted that they made a side trip to Hong Kong and Disneyland “for socialization and bonding,” saying some barangay chairs went either with their spouses or families.
Those who failed to join the trip were either sick or did not have passports, Par said.
Asked if the Chinese government shouldered any of their expenses during their three day-two night stay in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Par said no.
He added, “I think they just sponsored a lunch or dinner for us.”

For a change

Par admitted that the money used for the trip came from the yearly contributions to the Liga ng mga Barangay (League of Villages).
“Each barangay allots a budget for its Human Resources Development Plan from which P55,000 is allotted for trainings and seminars. The P55,000 is like the barangay’s membership fee in the Liga,” he said. “We have out-of-town seminars and educational trips yearly, but this was the first time we went abroad. [We went there] also for a change.”
Before the China trip, all 897 barangay chairmen, along with their seven councilmen, secretary and treasurer, also attended a three day-two night seminar in a hotel in Baguio sometime in May or June.
Par said the money for the Baguio seminar also came from contributions to the Liga.
He refused to divulge the exact amount spent for the activity but claimed that the total P49,335,000 barangay budget (P55,000 from each barangay) covered both their Baguio and China trips.

‘Excessive spending’

Lawyer Vladimir Cabigao, meanwhile, criticized the barangay officials’ “excessive spending,” saying it was a clear misuse of public funds.
He also asked the Commission on Audit (COA) to conduct a probe of the matter.
“As concerned taxpayers, we would like to ask your office to exercise your visitorial authority over the books of the Liga ng mga Barangay in the City of Manila because we are worried that the said foreign trip may have been made possible by the use of public funds,” Cabigao said in his letter to COA yesterday. “… If public funds were used to support the said foreign travel, then it was an irregular, excessive, unnecessary and extravagant use of public funds.”
But Par justified the trips, saying it has been a common practice among barangay officials to hold out-of-town seminars and training, even under the previous administration.

Bye Tin!

August 30, 2009

Our Barangay Council Meetings are held every 2nd and last Sundays of each month at 8:00 p.m.. We were almost complete and just waiting for Kagawads Boy and Tintin. At about 8:15 p.m. Kagawad Alex excused himself telling us that Tintin’s brother sent an SMS that Tin collapsed. We found out that after feeding his dogs he was set to go to our meeting, so, with Kagawad Jonas, they rushed to see Tin. About a few seconds a cab rushing and heading towards Lourdes Hospital with 2 other tanods passed by. The rests of us followed ot the hospital. We witnessed how Tin was revived for more than 30 minutes but failed to. I have not gotten over that scene yet. He was cremated early this morning.

Peter Celestine Tinio “Tintin”, was a great loss to our Barangay. He was a decent, educated, well-mannered man. That’s the man we knew and bonded with for 1 year and 8 months. He succumbed to a stroke at 39 years old leaving wife Cathy, 7 year old Lance and 11 month old baby boy.

We will miss you Tin!
