New York, New York !

Friday, August 31, 2007

Most people say that you cannot completely declare that you have traveled to the U.S. of A unless you have gone to New York. I guess they were right. That was one place I missed with my daughter Queenie when we had a month vacation in just some parts of the U.S. about two years ago. I did not realize that a month is too short for a stay as you cannot get to see more places and attractions in such a nice country. I would have seen the well known streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn, have a taste of shopping like a New Yorker and the sight of the most famous Statue of Liberty. Oh no, not again because the family is planning a trip and spend some Holidays to New York before our respective visas expire in two years.

I have found the best sight that offers affordable Flights to New York . Holiday Offers is at its best in DialAFlight . It*s the starting point to a holiday of your dreams. Cheap flights are also offered here plus affordable hotels, car rental and other travel ideas like beach holidays, spa, weekend breaks and a lot more to make your dream holiday comes to a reality.

To book with DialAFlight , all you need is to call and speak to a travel consultant who will ensure that all your requirements are fulfilled to be sure that your well-planned holiday turns out to be exactly what you wanted.

Online Hotel Reservations

Today, most people going on trips for vacation, leisure or business opt to reserve and book their travels online. It’s more of an advantage and less of a bother falling in long queues at ticketing counters and travel agencies to get your plane tickets and Hotel Reservations online. On our last shopping trip with my friend, we got our tickets and hotel bookings online which was far more convenient and cheaper.

The next time I travel with my friends or family, I have bookmarked this site which has various offerings like hotels, motels, resorts, vacations rentals and more at economical and discounted rates at any world destinations of your choice be it for leisure or business purposes. Simply pick a place you want to go and they will take care of the rest at a budget you can afford because they are known to be the cheapest hotel reservation site in the internet.

can book you a hotel you personally prefer and they would be happy to assist you in finding it for you if you don*t get to see it in the list. They'd be happy to help you in just about anything and everything from airline tickets, hotel transfers, car rentals they can arrange for you to use while on vacation.

Plan your trip, set your itineraries, research the cities where you want to go through their destination guide to cities in the respective country you intend to go. If you cannot find the city or the hotel you are looking for, you can always call them and their customer service staff who will be glad to assist and will be ready to help you because they are available 24 hours a day.I will be availing of their group package next trip because my husband*s brothers and their families will be joining us too. Effective relief for PMS

Thursday, August 30, 2007

While many women openly discuss periods, pregnancy and even their sex lives, the subject of menopause tends to get pushed under the carpet. I for one cannot bear the thought that it’s happening to me but I just cannot deny the fact I have been experiencing the symptoms of this menopausal stage like backaches, fatigue, headaches, irritability, mood swings and depression. At times I feel sad or suddenly angry for no particular reason, forget where I put things and fret about extra bulges though everyone envies me for being fit and trim.

Talking to women friends the same age was comforting in one way because no one seemed to know much more than the usual old myths and there’s a big downside to not knowing because it means you cannot make informed decisions about how to cope up with any troublesome symptoms and the choice of possible treatments. I also read books, do some researches, surf the net for effective ways to cope up with these symptoms and still feel great while undergoing this life phase. I’m so happy finding this progesterone cream that is very effective in relieving these symptoms I’m going through and I’m gladly sharing this to you ladies who are going through this dilemma.

Progesterone is one of the hormones in our bodies that stimulates and regulates various functions. This is cream is an all natural progesterone cream and is the one and only natural bioidentical progesterone cream that can provide you with no harmful chemical additives or preservatives compared to other progesterone creams claiming to be one. Try this cream to get rid of those irritating symptoms associated with menopause (post or pre) and balance your hormone levels as well.

Go Organic

The organic consumer market is growing nationwide because of its beneficial effects to one’s health. Organic food are free of cross-contamination with other foods and are grown and raised in specific locations without the use of most conventional pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or sewage sludge. Farmers growing organic products are required to protect the environment by enriching the soil naturally, conserving water, and practicing crop rotation.

Organic products ranging from organic skincare like soap, ointment, lotion and organic health products such as organic vitamines from A-Z have higher antioxidants compared to those products treated with hazardous and unsafe chemicals.

So just like me, go jump on the organic bandwagon because it will be best for you and your family.

Christmas Shopping, etc.

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

As early as the second week of this month my MIL (ma-in-law) with me started out shopping for Christmas give-aways for clients and their staffs. My college friend Macoy, the Operations and Store Manager of the Landmark Department Store together with her able personnel helps us make shopping easy and convenient. We normally shop in bulk for gift items and leave everything for wrapping, store them in big boxes for easy pick up and storage at home.

Last Saturday she called to inform me that we will go to Clark (Economic Zone selling PX goods) the next day to buy imported towels for give-aways. I'm glad she assigns me the task of suggesting and choosing the kinds of items that she readily approves while sitting down most of time waiting for me. You may ask why she still comes along? Why not totally leave the job to me? Well, it's because she wants to oversee everything, loves to shop and handle every minute details of the business including the entire life of her children down to her grand grand kids. No I'm not ranting (medyo lang, hehe) in fact I salute her for her energy and prowess though she's 77 but still strong. She's one super momma who will sacrifice everything for her 3 sons.
The skyflakes story
Done with the give-away shopping, we transferred to another store. While she was tired and waiting in the car, she told me she want something hot to take. I bought her coffee at McDonald's and mixed it for her with sugar and creme but later ask for toasted bread to dip in her coffee, eh wala naman nun sa McDo. So I got off the car to buy her some crackers. As she tasted the skyflakes crackers she said and thinking it may be imported "Oh this is good and not that salty compared to ones I've tasted, go grab 10 more packs because I'll give them to my sis, bro, to Rey and Ronnie the diabetics. Go taste it", giving me some, my tita A her cousin who was with us and even the driver. We all agreed but I can't help my big mouth with a burst of laughter and said "Nay, local lang yan gawang Cainta by M.Y. San" (Ma, it's locally made from Cainta)..... haha weird noh? But then Tita A went back to the shop but only one was left in the counter. "Oh, let's pass by another grocery to compare" hahaha she was insistent.

Free Stuff

Obviously everybody wants Free Stuff offered by product endorsers to promote their merchandise. I really would not know the reason to refuse this Free Stuff not unless you are one super rich man to decline it. Oh, not me!

Whenever I go shop or just look around the malls, I get to be attracted to items which offer freebies or Free Stuff that even though I have no intention to buy such item I will be enticed to purchase just to get the Free Stuff.

Same thing when I go online shopping. There are legitimate sites that offer freebies contrary to those sites with prerequisites like having to signup or refer five friends or more. Yes this one is for real.

They have different categories from A-W, Arts and Crafts to Webmaster Stuff which you can browse without the hassle of signing up just to enter their site. I bet you will perfectly find what will suit your needs and wants for FREE.

Most freebies I love are Free Magazine Subscriptions and free product samples on Health, Fitness and Beauty & Cosmetics product samples.

Madrid and Barcelona Getaway

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My husband and I have been wishing to bring the kids with us to Spain. We have plans of going specifically to Madrid and Barcelona on our next scheduled trip before the end of the first quarter next year for a summer vacation which most of my colleagues who have been there says is the best time to visit both places. I*ve heard a lot about these cosmopolitan cities from friends and some informative sites in the internet which made me more excited and have started counting months before we finally go.

Finding Hotels in Madrid and Hotels in Barcelona will never be a problem to us and would be travelers because there are those which offer a year round accommodation and even a last minute place to stay whether it be a hotel, apartment or hostels with prices generally less than direct with free add-ons and use of facilities.

We have each marked some places and events like watching bullfights in San Isidro for hubby, visiting Madrid*s Amusement Park and the Zoo-Aquarium located at Casa de Campo which the children will surely love and stroll along the beaches of Barcelona. Nature lovers like us will not need to travel far to be able to hike through the hills that are part of the coastal mountain range and the Catalan Pyrenees. And, because culture is never undermined by nightlife, some of the most innovative venues have been established beside the important museums, parks, historic gardens and shopping centers. Nightclubs, concert halls, bars and restaurants are located in the most emblematic corners of the city. Exclusive atmospheres in the Diagonal, colorful spots in the Gràcia district, and pavement cafés in Port Vell, Port Olímpic or in any of the city*s many squares, are examples of the attractions that the night has to offer in Barcelona.

You will not have a hard time looking for Hoteles en Barcelona. Come and see for yourself.

Happy Birthday Keren!!!

Friday, August 24, 2007

August 23, Thursday
Our youngest grandkid Keren turned 8 today and I'm proud to tell you that she's already in Grade 4 at O.B. Montessori Center. After her preparatory year in a nearby Methodist School we decided to transfer her in a Baptist International School in Makati for Kindergarten but since she got a high mark in the entrance exams we decided to enroll her as First Grade much to the discouragement of the Administration because she was only about 4 that time. Anyways she coped up even landing in the top 10 of her class. Towards the end of her 2nd Grade we applied her at O.B. Montessori wanting much to transfer her and elder sister Nadine because it's a lot nearer to our home but she wasn't accepted and they want to demote her if we insist to enroll her. No way! We transferred them in a Catholic School nearby, my Alma Mater and on her 1st day of school as Grade 3, her classmates bullied her and tells her to go down to the Grade I classroom because it's where she belongs. Well then, she finished Grade 3 on above average rating. On our second attempt, O.B. Montessori finally accepted as Grade 4 because again she got a high score in the entrance exams. So there she is. Her teachers call her "baby".

All for Display

There was a time when my husband Rey used to be a regular wine and liquor enthusiast. Being in the Security Business for quite sometime with most of the people he mingles and associate with are dominantly the male group and as expected, most of them are social drinkers. During special occasions like birthdays and Christmases, wines and liquors are generally doled out as gifts to male clients, supervisors, managers and the like ranging from ordinary to the more expensive brands depending on the recipient’s status. On hubby’s part, he gets more expensive ones and store them in a special Wine Rack together with his other collections.

For a wine and liquor lover like my husband, good wine racks are a necessity. Fine wines are worth paying extra for only if you can store and eventually serve them in good condition. Finding an appropriate place to store wine should be an issue for almost everyone. A little ingenuity may be required. The principles behind storing wine is not as complex as you may think nor difficult to understand or necessarily difficult to achieve. There are but a few factors to consider when storing wines such as TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, CALMNESS, DARKNESS, CLEANLINESS, VENTILATION and ANGLE OF STORAGE.

Not until hubby acquired diabetes (it’s in the genes) and became hypertensive with his cholesterol and triglycerides slightly elevated that he resorted to having red or white wine once in a while because of the its beneficial effects on the heart.

Nowadays, all the special wines and liquors that hubby has are just on display and may only be taken out from a special Wine Rack when good old friends come and visit him for a drink or two.

Fashion from Tobi

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Surfing fashion sites consumes much of my time in the net. I check and find out what are the latest styles that will suit my taste and preferences. I normally opt for the basics, clothes that you can mix and match with all my other garments, accessorize and easily turn from casual to dressy look. A top factor one may also consider is the comfort and ease it can offer the wearer on a particular season of the year. Clothes must also be made of quality materials without hurting one’s budget. I found one highly recommended site that perfectly suit my fondness for clothes. Here you can find dresses, tees and tops from casual to dressy with choices of your favorite colors just as you wanted.

I just love Velvet apparel by Graham & Spencer. Here are two featured photos of velvet clothes which captured my fancy.

Velvet clothing will surely be your choice too. You can personalize your shopping experience with My Tobi by building your personal specialty shop, choosing only the brands and categories you love, creating a profile and upload pictures to decorate your page to your heart’s desire. My Tobi is your room inside the Tobi boutique, a place to store your shopping history, receives advice and recommendations from your very own personal stylist. Despite hubby's warning not to proceed to the salon because surely the roads were flooded on the way where Queenie & I had a scheduled appointment for hair and make, we were still very insistent notwithstanding the heavy downpour of rain due to typhoon Egay. Good thing it wasn't so.

August 17, 20007, Friday.
It was a priviledge having joined the Villarica Family in a joyous family affair - the celebration of the 90th birthday of Cuz Girlie's father in-law at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula Hotel. The party was fun - food was great and and the program was well organized. I loved the music rendered by Bernie Pasamba and his Orchestra plus Pinoy Pop Superstar winners, Gerald Santos and Aichelle (not sure of the spelling) Santos and of course the Surprise Belly Number of Cuz Girlie, Isha with teacher Gladys and belly classmate Rica. I enjoyed the Chinese Dragon Dance Number too. There were also games with cash prizes doled out and oh! not just cash but jewelries were also given to lucky winners! I just wasn't lucky that night, sayang!

My lovely cuz looked so gorgeous in her gown that night, so bad we have no photos taken as she was so busy table hopping and entertaining guests.

Our BEST wishes to Mr. Quirino C. Villarica. May you live to be a hundred and more!

Salon visits makes me feel relaxed and stress free! I had my scheduled hair-dye two days ago at Fix Glorietta and noticed this mania of mine. I realized I consistently do this habit of buying the same set of goodies before entering the said salon - a cheese roll at Mary Grace, a bunch of roasted peanuts, strawberry marshmallows and mineral water.

Flash Floods due to Egay

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

We were already at St. Lukes Medical Center at about 8:00a.m. for Rey’s laboratory and blood works when heavy rains due to typhoon Egay poured. On our way home at 12:00 p.m. the skies were clear then but we noticed that there was a heavy flow of traffic when we reached the boundaries of San Juan and Mandaluyong. Motorists where even instructed to re-route because of some flooded areas along our way. We were stranded for more than an hour on a supposedly 20 minute drive. See why…

Stay fit and trim

Who says staying in shape has to be difficult, complicated, or expensive?

Being a vain momma, one thing I’m so conscious about is gaining extra and unwanted pounds. One reason behind is that I cannot imagine buying an L size shirt or dress and/or a jeans size bigger than size 26. I really mind what I eat to the point of counting the calories I take. Mind you, I really don’t starve myself when it comes to my food intake because I do indulge occasionally but just like in driving a car, I step on the brakes when I speed up at times. When I feel like I’m bloating I switch on eating more vegetable salads and fruits and lessen my rice intake.

Here’s a highly recommended site that offers a free calorie counter . This calorie counter will help you track down your daily calorie intake. Check this out to get in shape, stay healthy and fit.

Monday, August 13, 2007

Timepieces like watches are basic necessities in our daily activities and a part of our day by day movements. More often than not, we live by schedule, and as the saying goes “Time is Gold”.

Basically I only have three watches. One for formal wear, a two-toned white and yellow gold, the other is a pure silver in black dial and lastly, one for everyday use which has interchangeable Watch Bands to go with the color of my outfit. I simply strap it on for a fascinating and appealing look and there goes more interesting times for me!
