A parking controversy

This was what I was telling you guys! I have no move that I got a 100% approval.
Here's the story. Some vehicle owner residents in an interior street requested if I can leave a space open for their ease of entrance and exit so I adhered to their request and had these 3 no parking stones placed to leave a space open. The following morning, a resident of the same street was heard complaining out loud but I didn't mind and had the 3 stones returned to where I placed them. I wrote her a letter telling her that I couldn't entertain her complaint since my aim is to give in to the requests of the majority blah blah blah. Since after the election period, our roads haven't crossed yet. What I also hoped and asked from her is to learn to accept defeat and restore the lost friendship, oh well.

My goodness! You shouldn't have been elected had they known that you only ran for the money, you shouldn't have won! What a shame! I can say you're not that poor and I don't think poverty can be stated as a reason to lose your self-respect and principles. Okay then, request granted. I don't want money to be a big issue. Yikes! Meeting adjourned!

Sleep in comfort

Monday, January 28, 2008

What comes to your mind when you hear the words adjustable beds? I don’t know if we have the same answer but I think of “hospital beds” when I hear those words. When I came across this site - bedinabox.com, I’ve known the comforts that these kinds of beds offer and they are entirely different from the hospitable beds I know. Get to sleep fast – naturally, experience pressure relief immediately when you lie down and melt away aches and pains due to the remarkable pressure-relieving properties of its mattress which comes with a 10-Year FULL GUARANTEED REPLACEMENT and a 20-Year Limited Warranty.

A majong marathon

Photobucket
I've been thinking nth times of posting this entry for reasons of faith and beliefs. Actually we play this just for fun and for destressing and I play with my 2 male cousins just within our home (a lame excuse! hahaha) though I know it involves a little (?) amount cash. A majong game normally consist of 4 players to form a quorum but playing in 3's will also do, hehehe. Since I became the Brgy. Chairman we seldom play anymore not until a 4th visiting player from overseas work - my cousin in-law we finally had a quorum. Can you imagine playing from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. of the following day? Well I was thankful Rey came to my rescue and had sometime replacing me "nag rosi". Luckily, I won which rarely happens!

A good sign of progress

It seems like real estate business in this country is making a boom. Ask me why? Gauging from flyers being distributed in just every corner of shopping malls, groceries and just about where people flock you can see people handing out these specially printed and expensive brochures. I also notice several on going construction of high rise condominiums and subdivisions being opened for viewing.

insurance quote

If you want the most coverage for the least cost you can’t beat term life insurance. It is very affordable since it allows an individual to purchase larger benefits because one is paying only for protection without cash values. Remember however to go for a term life insurance quote as early as possible because premiums start to become more expensive as you grow older.

I can't wait to get home from here

Taken from the Brgy. window

Yes! I'm super excited with this. Imagine? After more than 5 years, Individual Community Tax Certificates are now available in our Barangay. I have learned from sources that our Barangay was banned with this priviledge because *allegedly* the past past administration's Treasurer failed to remit a portion or the collectible (?) of funds out of this. Oh well, I'm so proud this was lifted during my term. Wanna buy? Php10.00 only from the Brgy. Secretary, Bhell and Treasurer, Cindy. Yeeeehaah!

Religious jewelries

Apart from being a Christian, wearing a piece of religious jewelry like my necklace with a cross pendant has been part of my almost day to day wear. Since white gold, platinum and sterling silvers are in; this necklace goes with my “whites”. When I feel holy and angelic sometimes, I even match my cross pendant with a crucifix chastity ring and because I notice that religious designed jewelries and accessories are also in fashion these days.

The Brgy. Justice System

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

For the record, since I was formally chaired as Barangay Chairman, the following cases have been brought for disposition. Upon receipt of the complaint I listen to the first party or the complainant and promises him/her to take the next move. For the foregoing cases, summons have been issued to respondents (the one being complained) to shed light on the nature of the complaint. The next move would be to call both parties in front of the Brgy. Chairman and/or a Lupon (a group of chosen/appointed elders of the Community to act as mediators.

1. A case filed against my constituent and another from a neighboring barangay, re-purchase of a vehicle without clean documents. This case has been settled amicably pending a promise by the respondents to process the necessary papers, the documents are still under process.

2. Non payment of apartment rentals for 5 months and the owner wants the tenant to vacate his property. The case is still on-going and I'm scheduled to meet them tomorrow.

3. A case of eviction. The alleged true owner of the apartment wanted the long time occupant (a distant relative) to vacate the property. The respondent pleaded to give them 15 days (nagpapa extend pa) to secure the necessary documents that will testify (?) and prove their ownership.

4. Slight slander. I was able to talk to the mother of the respondent a few hours ago and I think I may issue a certificate to file action for refusal to settle.

5. A case of alleged slight physical injuries and mauling filed against my barangay tanods by teen-agers who came to our barangay to create havoc. Case closed due to lack of evidences!

It is my duty to exert best efforts to have an amicable settlement between parties pursuant to the provisions of Sec. 408 of R.A. 7160 otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991. Cases (with some exemptions) cannot be filed directly to any Court unless a Certificate to File Action from the Punong Barangay/Lupong Tagapamayapa is issued.

In any case I just wanna share this good news to you friends.

I went home empty handed

Sunday, January 13, 2008

I came home from a victory party by the team who won as Liga President. The party was exclusive for Barangay Chairmans of the 6 districts of Manila held at ClamShell2, Gen. Luna, Intramuros, Manila. I wasn't happy and was ranting when I got home because I wasn't lucky enough to get any prize when the raffle was drawn. I also didn't have a single photo taken from the affair, di ko feel talaga! Well they promised to give all of us a half cavan of rice sooner.
Photobucket

I asked my daughter Rhea to take this photo while his daddy was teasing me while I was ranting "hmmmp kahit isang thermos di ako naka tanggap"! my daughter and Rey answered "ano ka ba! pinamimigay lang nga natin mga thermos sa baba nung Pasko"! Basta! inis ako!

Baseball Bats

Do you know that the first thing that came to my mind when I hear the words baseball bats? Baseball Bats to me connotes a rather hard piece of wood that can be use either to hit or attack someone as the case maybe. When I was in my teens I remember we had one placed not at the car’s trunk but inside our car. So I thought it was designed for defensive use because I don’t remember any of our family members who play this sport except for my sister’s friends who are in the RP team. I presumed she asked it from one of them.

Based on my readings, baseball bats are really used as a dangerous weapon in some countries where baseball is not a popular sport. They are linked mostly with crime in the public mind and were even portrayed in some novels and video games wherein its use has no connection to having sports in mind but as a weapon. In the movie The Untouchables, the famous gangster Al Capone used a bat to murder a traitor.

For your young and aspiring kids who have a special interest in baseball, Kidsportinc.com offers special and quality items for a great online shopping experience having been in the sporting business for over 50 years.

Feeling better

It's good I'm feeling a lot more better though I'm still feeling a little weak after a bout with Diarrhea which maybe due to the pancit and milky way chocolates I had for merienda yesterday. I even missed the scheduled Barangay 1st Council meeting for this year and another hearing about a mauling incident on the dawn of the New Year's Eve. It's great to have an in-house soon to be doctor (hopefully) who can readily prescribe medicines for emergency treatments otherwise I was thinking of rushing to the hospital for help.

Student Loan

Monday, January 7, 2008

Not everyone has the means to learn and earn a college degree. Some are not as lucky as others who have supportive and well-off parents to spend for their education. If you are among one of those students who do not have the money to pay for a college education, you can apply for a student loan at Tuition Wise. Log in or you can call them over the phone in minutes. Get approved in a matter of 15 minutes and get up to $40,000 a year sent to you directly in about 5 days. The best part is you are not required to pay until you graduate. Take advantage of this great deal for a bright future ahead.

Drug rehabilitation

Sunday, January 6, 2008

Drug addiction has become one among society’s dreaded problems today. Crime rates related incidents dramatically increasing in number have been attributed to drug dependency problems. When I headed our neighboring community I had known that government institutions go hand in hand with every community leader in order to fight and eventually put a halt to this menace. They instructed us to refer these drug addicts for drug rehabilitation. I can boast and am thankful to say that there are none of them belonging to my constituents. You too can check with your respective community chapter leaders on this. Let us join hands in helping solve this problem.

Desperadas, the Movie

A film about Filipino women’s trials

"Desperadas (All they Need is Love), by Regal Entertainment

This is a story of four beautiful half-sisters with different idiosyncracies and issues on family and relationships. It portrays the Filipino woman’s many trials and how she copes with life’s unending ups and downs but in the end realizes that all she really needs is love. The film by respected Director Joel Lamangan showcases the country’s most captivating and stylish actresses today - Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Iza Calzado, Marian Rivera - in unforgettable roles set to make the audience laugh, cry and be entertained this holiday season.

Ruffa Gutierrez plays the role of Isabella, a single mother who somehow lost her way, a perceived brat who antagonizes her sisters. She is being courted by a devoted ramp model Vito, played by popular singer and host Jay-R.

Rufa Mae Quinto is Patricia, a sexologist who has written books on sexual relationships. She is married to Dave (Wendell Ramos), a banker. Having a carefree and liberal attitude, Patricia feels she has no problems at all until a shocking realization comes her way.

Iza Calzado gives life to Stephanie, a demure and conservative lawyer married to obstetrician Richard, played by TJ Trinidad. She openly abhors Patricia’s liberal character but secretly buys her books in an attempt to address her marital concerns.

Marian Rivera portrays the youngest sibling Courtney. Ditzy and accident-prone, she’s a swimwear and underwear designer who is engaged to be married to basketball star Patrick (Will Devaughn).

The angel in us

Thursday, January 3, 2008

Don’t just junk your old cars for nothing because you can donate them to a non-profit company known as carangel.com which produces special videos showing moral contents for growing children. Our car donation can go a long way instead of letting them go to waste by keeping them and taking a lot of extra space in your yard? Less fortunate kids can benefit out of them by watching the videos where they can learn moral values which will contribute a lot to their developmental needs. Let us all be thankful for our blessings and we can start sharing these to others. Enjoy watching this sample video.
