An able public servant?

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

I was so glad to receive congratulatory messages from friends mostly thru SMSes when some of them read an article about my being an able public servant published today in a widely circulated local newspaper, Peoplé's Tonight and most of them were teasing me about these very elating words descriibing me if I may quote as "beautiful and graceful" hahahaha. Although there were few erroneous information like -

- they should have stated that KAPITAN is a group composed of 33 bry. chairmen (not chairwomen),

- I didn't construct the barangay hall, I only converted the used to be dirty (as in dirty) kitchen and tambakan to a now modest Chairman's Office, and

- Sta. Ana Police Station 6 not Pasay City

it was kind of a different feeling knowing some people believes in what you are doing.

Designer beddings

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Lovely linens and beddings absolutely gives a special look in a bedroom that’s why I invest a lot on one of a kind bedcovers, pillowcases, blankets and comforters. Now I’m dreaming of having even just a set of Sferra bedcovers when I chanced upon their site - finelinens.com. Their designs are just so lovely and classy and thinking of lying down on them would make me feel like not leaving our bed anymore. It’s time for me to save a lot of “moolah” (money, what else?)

Interview with People's Tonight

Monday, January 26, 2009

Photobucket
Those reporters chanced upon me last November when I took an Oath which was administered by Mayor Alfredo Lim as official member of the Soroptimist Philippines. They asked if they can come to my Office for an interview which of course I didn’t refuse. The scheduled interview was long overdue which was supposed to be before the holidays but I begged off when hubs got sick and was hospitalized. Anyways they sent me an SMS just before noon yesterday (Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009) asking for an appointment and since I’m not busy that afternoon they scheduled it at 3:30 p.m. but they came ahead of time.

To make this short (PLUGGING ITO)

Please get yourself a copy of People’s Tonight’s Tuesday (tomorrow, January 27, 2009) issue and check-out the write-up about MEeeeeeeeee.

What's the best?

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

The holiday season had gone past but it’s too bad I developed this monstrous appetite and cravings for some food I randomly think of. My latest addiction is “Palabok” and Ice Craze from Jollibee. Well, it’s high time for me to consider taking diet pills and take some serious time to exercise before these habits gets me to nowhere. I just have to consider which of these diet pills have been tried and tested and proven safe in the market today.

A fine Saturday!

It was a Saturday I described as completos recados! Vanities in the morning-had my hair treatment, hi-lites and root dye while my barangay tanods were busy with peace and order job for an ongoing teledrama shooting. Had a meeting in the early afternoon at a nearby barangay to plan a revenue generating scheme with KAPITAN- comprising of fellow barangay chairmen, a chance to attend the Buling Buling (Street Dancing) at Pandacan in connection with Fiesta ng Sto. Nino and graced the birthday celebration of our inaanak Chuck at Alabang in the evening coupled with some bonding moments with BFFs Edna and Connie.

Enjoying the cold front and Barangay on location Shootings

Friday, January 16, 2009

I'm sure most of us city people are enjoying the cold air these days. Jackets are the in thing and airconditioning units are switched off most of the time.... a good way to conserve energy.

On another note, I'm so happy to share the good news that our barangay have started getting revenues not only from Barangay clearances and business permits but also from yesterday's commercial shoot, Tele drama series (tomorrow and then on) starring Yasmin Kurdi for "Saan Darating ang Umaga" and hopefully a movie to start shooting by the end of this month by no less than Ate Vi herself for Star Cinema Productions. What a good start!

Fiestas are in-Pandacan Buling Buling

“Fiestas” (Fiesta is the local term for Feast commonly held in Towns and Provinces to honour their Patron Saint) have started and solicitations keeps pouring in. One nearby is on Saturday, the Feast of Sto. Nino. Inter basketball games were held and awarding for the champion team was done prior to the day itself. I have donated some basketball trophies aside from the cash donations for some minor prizes. I’m also excited to join and grace the festivities along with a few friends in the service on Saturday during the Town Fiesta.

The Assumptionistas in a reunion

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Photobucket Photobucket PhotobucketPhotobucket Photobucket

I was honored to be invited to the AC High School volleyball team’s reunion at Coach Jake’s phome in San Lo-Makati. My daughter Rhea Marie was part of the H.S. Varsity since she was in her 1st year and even up to her college years when she was taking up Psychology as her pre-med course. She was the team’s “libero” or “sweeper”. Wonder what was my participation back then? I was an avid spectator and supporter, cheerer, stage mother and what nots during inter-school competitions and was there in a lot of of victories and a few defeats.

'Twas nice to see the girls who were just then young teeners now as full grown ladies, some are married with kids, professionals – 3 are now doctors, 1 has a Pre-school of her own, 2 works abroad aside from the others we’ve missed because they are now based in other parts of the world.

I was also happy to see “The Greatest Coach on Earth”, Jake Uichico doing well after he survived a stroke more than 6 years ago. He was an eminent influence to all the girls. He had moulded them and instilled in them the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, good character and refinement that made them better persons that they are now.

Kitchen renovation on its way

Friday, January 2, 2009

My husband wants our kitchen renovated as early as next week. He would like to have a complete make-over by changing the cabinets and kitchen faucets as well as the sink. You know what made him decide to do this? The kitchen is infested with never ending cockroaches roaming around and hiding under the sink and the cabinets. No amount of cleaning and insecticide sprays can completely eliminate these pests. Gosh, they’re so irritating!
