Exercise your Right to Vote, Register Now!

Saturday, October 24, 2009

COMELEC Offices is open from Mondays-Sundays with extended office hours.

2010 NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS

Registration deadline is October 31

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has moved the voters' registration deadline to October 31 instead of December 15 reportedly to accommodate the preparations for the full automation of the May 2010 polls.

"The Commission resolved to move back the voters’ registration deadline to October 31 from December 15 in order to give us more time to prepare for the full automation of the 2010 elections," Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.
Despite the earlier deadline for registration, Jimenez said that voters will be given more opportunities to register after the commission also ruled to open registration on Saturdays and holidays, mainly to encourage students and workers to register.

Before you can vote, you need to register. Here’s a step by step guide to successfully registering as a voter for the upcoming elections:

1. Bring any of the following valid identification cards:

  • employee’s ID,
  • postal ID,
  • Students ID,
  • Driver’s License,
  • NBI or PNP clearance,
  • Passport,
  • SSS/GSIS ID, IBP ID,
  • PRC license

Have a photo copy of your ID ready to be submitted to the Comelec. IDs should have name, picture and address. If you are not yet 18 but will turn 18 before the election period, bring a birth certificate. Forms should be accomplished in triplicate.

2) Head off to your local Election Officer (OEO) at your local city or municipal hall during regular office hours (read: Mondays to Fridays, from 8am to 5pm). Lately, the Comelec has opened their doors as well to Saturday registrations. It’s also good to watch out for mobile registrations in your barangay and schools.

3) Before you are given a registration form, the election officer will verify if you have registered in the past.

4) Once cleared, you will be given the CEF-1A (white form) to fill-up. You can also download your own copy from the Commission on Elections website.

5) Fill up ‘Part 1’ and hand it to the election officer, presenting your valid ID while handing over the photocopy of your ID.

6) You will be ushered to the data capturing or biometrics desk for your signature, thumb mark, and picture.

7) You will be given an acknowledgement receipt. Keep this as proof that you have registered. You will be asked to come back for your voters’ ID. –
* Based on COMELEC’s and YVote Philippines’s election registration guide. Registration for first-time voters will end on October 31, 2009.

Authentic Christmas trees

Monday, October 19, 2009

Photobucket
Oh my! How time flies so quickly that you’ll not even notice that Christmas Season is fast approaching. While our living room is still undergoing renovation, I’ve asked my household helpers to check and clean our Christmas decors and saw that our trees are kind of old already and I’m now thinking of purchasing artificial christmas trees that would look really like real ones. I’m now looking around for these kinds of stuffs and would start decorating right after Halloween.

State of the Barangay Address (SOBA) Oct. 17, 2009

We Chairmen together with the whole Council is required to conduct a Barangay Assembly semi-annually. It's a sort of a forum inviting all residents/constituents to attend wherein we lay down and report our accomplishments,to talk about problems of the community and ways to solve or improve our community life. The Chairman is required to deliver the state of the barangay during the past six months. Here's my SOBA

“SOBA” State of the Barangay Address

1. Availability of Cedula (Community Tax Certificate);

2. Barangay Survey para sa talaan ng mga residenteng ating barangay;

3. Planning Session ng buong konseho na ginanap noong February 21, 2009;

6. Lakbay Aral na pinamunuan ng namayapang kagawad Peter Celestine “Tin” Tinio noong Abril 22, 2009 sa Manila Zoo at Manila Ocean Park para sa mga bata;

7. Clean up drive on April 19, 2009 sabay testing ng ating barangay pondahan ng tubig ( fire truck):

8. Pagpapaskel ng Citizen Charter Chart.

9. Pakikilahok sa Earth Hour na sinuportahan ng 90% ng ating Barangay;

10. Pagpapapinta , hilamos at linis ng maliit na grotto sa harapan nina Robert at Tess Garcia maliban sa mukha ng rebulto ni Mama Mary;

11. Paglalagay ng mga banderitas para sa Kapistahan ng Sta Ana; palaro na inisponsor ng isang Konsehal at residente ng ating Barangay;

12. Taunang Santacruzan na pinamumunuan ng SK Chairman at kanyang Konseho;

13. Ang Pagpapasundot ng mga kanal “ declogging “ na naging palagiang ginagawa upang maiwasan ang pagbabara ng mga ito;

15. Nagkaroon din po ng Voter’s Registration noong Hunyo 4-5, 2009 na inasistihan ng buong konseho;

Marina G. Vergara

Chairman

Minor repairs going on

Thursday, October 1, 2009

We are undergoing a slight repair and renovation of our first floor after the devastating typhoon and floods that hit Manila and the Eastern cities. We need to have our walls repainted, have some electrical rewirings and our ceiling light fixture changed to something that will match our flooring and walls. We are all hoping that we will past through these long rainy and stormy weather soon. It’s so depressing to watch the news on television seeing rescue jobs and help brigades to the poor victims of typhoon Ondoy.
