Blessings shared
Just before the year ended, I’m proud to have been an instrument of joy to others. I’m talking here of a feeding program not just for the physical body but spiritual food for the soul as well, when I together with friend and fellow church member of “The Next Generation Int’l Christian Church” Ex Congressman Tony Boy Aquino and wife Anna sponsored a feeding program for the poor and depressed constituents of Brgy. 900 at Punta, Sta. Ana headed by Chairman Agnes Magpale. Though it was showering, the event was a success. Only 200 food stubs where distributed in advance but it seemed we had fed a hundred more, amazing! The Lord must have worked wonders!
If I may quote the last part of my welcome and introductory speech that went this way “He’s a native of Tarlac, Chairman, Alay sa Bayan Foundation, nephew of the late Sen. Benigno Aquino AND (in a murmuring voice and a wink) cousin of Kris Aquino. I’m proud to present Congressman Tony Boy Aquino”. Natawa sila dun sa Kris Aquino!
After the speeches and just before the distribution of pack lunches, an inspirational message and prayer was solemnly delivered by our Pastor, Rev. John Garcia. Well applauded special numbers by the SK members and youth of Barangay 900 were presented to us guests too.
After the event, our group of 5 vehicles convoyed all the way to Tonang’s Restaurant for a sumptuous lunch courtesy of Tonyboy and Anna.
I also wish to thank all the concerned members of our church for their kind help and support. Hopefully, more programs like this will be extended to a lot more depressed Barangays in Manila.

Well as usual, I always cram and do my last minute shopping the day before Christmas day itself. On the first month of the New Year, I always plan to buy gifts as early as I can but always break this promise. Anyways I will still keep this plan open and shop whenever there are sale items around in preparation for the Holidays. Cross my heart, promise, peks man.

Getting the experience on how it was trekking along the las vegas strip was simply unforgettable. The lights were awesome and you could really feel the excitement and thrill of anyone you meet along. I wish I can have another chance to visit Las Vegas on my future trip to the United States hopefully this coming year before my VISA expires on 2010. Oh I sooooo love Vegas!

Erap and Loren at Sta. Ana Church

'Twas 2 days ago when I was informed by the Sta. Ana Church Council staff that they need 10 Barangay Tanods on December 17, to provide Peace and Order at the premises for Erap's visit and gift giving to 2,000 residents chosen among the 19 Barangays of Sta. Ana. Since the Sta. Ana Church is covered by the Barangay I chair along with Precinct Station No. 6 they gave e the honor to provide the peace keeping scheme.As instructed the Tanods where there as early as 6:00 a.m. and I got there by 9:00 a.m. to supervise the mob. Erap arrived with Loren, Maceda and avid supporter Rez in a semi open truck with around 4-6 back-up vehicles. I didn't made "papel", I was just at the foot of the improvised stage listening to their speeches until Maceda complimented my "orange uniformed tanods" incidentally matched Eraps motiff when I raised my hand and butt in "That's why I'm also in my orange shirt to match them because I'm their Chairman". At that juncture, I was asked to come up and join them, warmly welcoming me with all praises and nice comments.

Welcome to my modest office

This small area used to be a "tambakan", a messy kitchen site of my tanods until I thought of converting this to my room. Tell me if I don't deserve a decent office. Yeah I admit I asked for some cash from extra barangay funds that the Council has approved. I hope more improvements will follow as I am thinking of renovating the stairway leading to the second floor.
I used to work here where we hold our meetings prior to the renovation of the small space. Notice the small entrance leading to it.

Light in times of emergencies

Oh boy! With the holidays just around the corner, I need a special kind of emergency light for unexpected brown-outs for use not only at home but for the whole barangay area as well. I just came back from a meeting with my Peace and Order Committee and have arranged a schedule of personnel to be assigned as special team for the “Simbang Gabi” (a 9day pre Christmas dawn special masses) to maintain traffic and peace within our vicinity. I hope everything will be smooth and orderly.

Oh yes! I’m on my way and still so hopeful to go on for more and more years of blogging. I just so love this experience since I have here clear online documents of events, mixed emotions (happiness, sadness, fears, angst, rants and what nots) expressed in words and all truly cherished in the future. Here, I had the joy of meeting wonderful friends online which some had developed into the kind that I never imagined them to be despite rare and short bonding and meetings as if we’ve known each other for a long long time but true enough since each one of us are updated with what’s going on with our daily lives as well as with my other non-blogger friends, colleagues, onlookers, passersby and usiseras who comes along to check and see what’s going on with me. Thanks to all of you guys!
One more thing, my blogs vanidosa.blogspot.com (inspired by my dear cousin Girlie) and mariegvergara.com courtesy of Beng Hafner have been into paid blogging for more than a year now which have augmented my finances to acquire some of my whims and wishes. The commitment to post for my advertisers has also been a reason to force me to update even though I’m dead tired sometimes to post due to my busy schedules but you know, I have to.

Honestly,I was not so keen nor interested about the boxing match of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar dela Hoya. Why? because I was NERVOUS! I was thinking this may be the end of his chain of victories and thought negatively about it. From the Sunday Church Service with the kids, we went to an appliance store in Makati to buy my daughter Queenie her advance Christmas gift, you can just imagine almost everyone where stuck to the televsision sets and radios around every corner that the store manager even called the attention of the store clerks to attend to us. I overheard that our Manny is on the advantage. We took our lunch at the nearby Cake Shop when Rey called from Greenhill's Promenade watching the live patch match and told me to send the driver to fetch him. I asked why? Done? He lost? You see how negative I was? "Nope! it's over, we won! Umayaw si dela Hoya". Wahoooooo...! Ang galing ng Pinoy!

It's been a year since I was elected Chairman of Barangay 885 with my fellow officers comprising the Council. A year of mixed events coupled with mixed emotions -intrigues, joys, pain and accomplishments to those who believe and a taste of envy and wagging tongues from my detractors but here we are still and trying to survive to give the best service we can offer.
Oh well, we are all very happy with our Anniversary highlighted by our last two days of feeding, cleaning and a SUCCESSFUL Medical and Dental Mission. Wahoooooo!!!
